Smart Start Sitters offers three levels of caregivers: Standard, Verified, and Elite. Both our Verified and Elite Caregivers command higher hourly rates with Elite commanding the highest rates.

Standard Sitter Mandatory Requirements:

Legally able to work in the US.
Must be 18 years of age.
2 years minimum of childcare experience.

Verified Sitter Mandatory Requirements:

Legally able to work in the US.
Must be 18 years of age.
4 years minimum of childcare experience.
Two current sitting references. (within the past 3-5 years)
Clean Criminal Background Check. *
CPR certification within the last 4 years

Elite Caregiver Mandatory Requirements:

Legally able to work in the US.
Must be 18 years of age.
6+ years of sitting experience. Other childcare related-experience, such as camp counselor a plus.
3 Current Sitting References (within past 3-5 years)
Completion of minimum 2 years in a college degree program OR certificate in child development, baby nursing, special needs training, or other childcare-related training.
Current CPR certification. Elite caregivers must renew their CPR certification every 2 years.
Clean Criminal Background Check.*
Experience with various age ranges of children, particularly newborns, infants, toddlers and children with special needs.
Preference given to caregivers having completed 4 or more years of college coursework, and those majoring in Elementary Education, Special Needs, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Physical Therapy.
Commitment to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with Smart Start Sitters' boutique service in New York City.
