SMART START SITTERS is a boutique child development sitter service that is unique in its approach and philosophy to working with children. We are the ONLY sitter service in the New York area, where we are based, to utilize skilled, child-centric sitters who are trained in and practice positive caregiving.
We work with and train mainly college students studying early childhood development and other related child-centered fields; and college-educated artists who, when they aren’t child minding, work professionally in creative fields such as music, acting, and dance.
Whether it’s after school, after camp or after the morning nap, your child’s development continues with us!
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) defines this as caregivers who:
- Have a positive, cheerful attitude
- Are attentive and respond to a child’s vocalizations
- Show interest and talk with the child about what they’re doing
- Tell age-appropriate stories
- Sing and play with the child
- Encourage and nurture their charges in their endeavors
These are the attributes we look for and develop in SMART START SITTERS, and offer to you, the harried parent, looking for someone to care for your child (or children).
